The Sultan of Sokoto and president general of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Sa’ad Abubakar, has called on Nigerians to engage more in farming to mitigate economic hardship and address the country’s rising cost of living.

In his Eid-el Kabir message, the Sultan emphasised the importance of taking advantage of the rainy season for farming to ensure adequate food production.

“We should all go back to farming and produce food because doing so will ease our condition and boost the country’s economy,” he advised.

Abubakar noted that the government needs to improve, especially given the difficult situation many people in the north face. He urged leaders to intensify their efforts to tackle these challenges.

The Sultan also highlighted the power of prayer and encouraged Muslims to continue praying for their leaders and the nation. He expressed gratitude to the security agencies for their dedication to ensuring the safety of citizens.

He praised Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State and urged people to continue living peacefully with one another. Additionally, he thanked the Muslim community for their dedication to propagating the true essence of Islam.

Abubakar also prayed for the safe return of pilgrims from Saudi Arabia, urging them to pray for Nigeria and its leaders during their pilgrimage.
