Security forces in Kastina State have reportedly caught and arrested a woman, identified as Aisha Abubakar, for allegedly transporting ammunition to terrorists in the region.

A security analyst and counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, revealed on Monday that the ammunition was concealed in a local fabric wrapper popularly known to northern women.

Makama also disclosed that the ammunition was discovered during a routine search of Abubakar’s luggage.

The authorities discovered the ammunition in her luggage during a routine search,” he stated.

Upon the discovery, the security officers interrogated Abubakar, but she denied any involvement despite visible evidence to the contrary.

During the course of the interrogation, the suspect confessed that she was heading to Yan Tumaki in Dan Musa LGA in Katsina state,” Makama wrote in a report.

While the terrorists Abubakar intends to supply this ammunition to was not disclosed, the incident indicated attempts to frustrate counterterrorism measures, a violation of Nigeria’s Terrorism (Prohibition and Prevention) Act, 2022.

Under the Act, aiding and abetting or, as stipulated in Section 17 of the law, providing a device to a terrorist attracts a 20-year jail term or up to a maximum life imprisonment.
