Sanwo-Olu Announces 10 Policy Measures to Aid Residents Amid Inflation

The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has announced 10 measures to aid Lagos residents during this economic crisis.

During a Thursday media chat held in Lagos, Sanwo-Olu expressed the Lagos state plans backed with data that will go into effect immediately to aid residents during these challenging times.

A plan ranged from providing flexible work policies for public servants to subsidy on government-owned transport medium to providing free healthcare and launching affordable market spaces designed to uplift Lagos State residents.

Following the announcement on his X handle, Sanwo-Olu shared expressively some of the policies as follows:

First is a three-day work week for Levels 1-13 civil servants; this measure aims to provide relief and flexibility, reflecting its commitment to the workforce’s well-being.

In addition, a 25% reduction on transport services for the State Public Transport system (BRT, Train, Ferry), putting back over ₦500 million monthly into the pockets of Lagosians.

Thirdly, on food prices, the Lagos state government has announced its plan to open Sunday Markets across 42 identified markets to sell food items at affordable rates.

Moreover, healthcare initiatives were also set to benefit over 50,000 women annually with free childbirth services across the state’s General Hospitals and secondary health facilities, alongside distributing free hypertensive medications to needy individuals.

Meanwhile, the governor urged all residents to unite as brothers and sisters to find ways to creatively thrive during Nigeria’s economic challenges.
