Police Adamawa Three Arrested

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a group of three people who were allegedly extorting money from the public by promising them jobs.

The police accused Bello Suleiman, a 59-year-old employee of the Fiscal Responsibility Commission in Yola, of aiding the crime along with Muhammed Ahmed Attahir, 31, and Abdulrahman Bashir Ahmad, 23.

The state’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, reported that the command received a complaint from Dr Suleiman Saidu Bashir, the Executive Chairman of the Adamawa State Primary Health Care Agency (ADSPHCA). According to the complaint, some individuals were impersonating the agency and extorting money from innocent citizens by issuing fake employment letters for the state civil service.

Commissioner of Police Dankombo Morris ordered a thorough investigation, leading to the arrest of the suspects.

Nguroje stated that the culprits and their collaborators issued fake appointment letters to over 10 victims in the state. They collected ₦400,000 from each victim and directed them to a specific office at the Fiscal Responsibility Commission for alleged data capture.

The police said they recovered one HP laptop, a thumbprint machine, and four fake appointment letters from the suspects, which they are now using as evidence.
