In 2023, Nigeria’s top-grossing actors collectively earned nearly N3 billion from their roles as lead actors, first or second supporting lead actors in various films, according to a new report.

The data, compiled by FilmOneng, an independent Nigerian entertainment company specialising in film distribution and production, was collated by Nairametrics. The cumulative earnings of these actors for the year ended December 31, 2023, amounted to an impressive N2.93 billion, underscoring their significant financial impact on the industry.

These actors, featured in some of the highest-grossing movies in 2023, have demonstrated their ability to captivate audiences and drive box office success. Their performances, ranging from lead roles to second supporting leads, have resonated with viewers, cementing their status as icons of Nigerian cinema.

Top 10 Highest-Grossing Actors in 2023

10. Charles Okafor – N126 Million

Charles Okafor’s rise to the top-grossing list can be attributed to his starring role in Mercy Aigbe’s “Ada Omo Daddy,” which grossed a staggering N218 million.

9. Odunlade Adekola – N128 Million

Odunlade Adekola, a prominent figure in Yoruba cinema, earned N128 million from his role in “Orisa,” which grossed N127 million. Known for his captivating performances, Adekola has also earned two AMVCA awards.

8. Deyemi Okanlawon – N130 Million

Deyemi Okanlawon grossed N130 million with notable appearances in films such as “Omo Ghetto: The Saga,” “Blood Sisters,” and “King of Boys: The Return of the King.” His journey from “ZR-7” to his current status highlights his versatility.

Timini Egbuson topped the list, grossing an impressive N1 billion. His roles in nine Nollywood films in 2023, including “A Tribe Called Judah,” “The Kujus Again,” and “Big Love,” solidified his status as Nollywood’s top-grossing actor.
