Nigeria’s D’Tigress have continued their dominance on the continental stage as they qualified for the fifth consecutive final of the FIBA Women’s Afrobasket following a hard-fought 75–68 victory over Senegal on Saturday.

The semi-final clash, held at the Palais des Sports de Treichville in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, was a thrilling contest between two of Africa’s basketball powerhouses.

Senegal established an 11–2 lead within the opening three minutes of the game. They maintained their momentum and held an 8-point advantage heading into the final quarter.

However, the Nigerian side showcased grit and championship mentality. D’Tigress launched a spirited comeback in the fourth quarter, outscoring their opponents and ultimately sealing the win with a 7-point margin.

The victory secures Nigeria’s place in a fifth consecutive Women’s Afrobasket final, a historic achievement. Should they win the 2025 championship, D’Tigress will become the first team in history to claim five straight FIBA Women’s Afrobasket titles.

This result stretches D’Tigress’ unbeaten AfroBasket streak to 28 games, extending back to 2015, and keeps them on course to become the first African team to win five AfroBasket titles in a row (2017, 2019, 2021, 2023, and potentially 2025).

They will now await the winner of the second semi-final between Mali and South Sudan to determine their final opponent.
