New Streaming Platform ‘Kava’ by Inkblot Studios & Filmhouse Set to Focus on African Stories

1.6k

Two of Nigeria’s prominent film companies, Inkblot Studios and Filmhouse Group, are collaborating to launch Kava – a new global streaming platform that will focus exclusively on African stories. The platform is expected to go live in late August 2025, featuring over 30 top Nollywood films and series, with fresh titles added every week.

Kava aims to meet the growing demand for African content worldwide, especially among Nigerians and other Africans in the diaspora. Viewers can look forward to the following first titles on the platform: Alakada Bad and Boujee, Owambe Thieves, What About Us, and House Job.

The creators say Kava is more than just another streaming service. “It is a bold new chapter for Nollywood,” Kava co-CEO and Inkblot head Chinaza Onuzo. “By giving both rising and established talent a trusted, lucrative stage to tell their stories, we’re building a platform that doesn’t just stream films – it fuels careers, drives innovation and connects African creativity to audiences around the world.” Kava co-CEO and Filmhouse Group chief Kene Okwuosa

With big names like Chinaza Onuzo of Inkblot and Kene Okwuosa of Filmhouse leading the charge, Kava promises to become a home for authentic African storytelling. The team also plans to produce exclusive original content in the future.

With global streaming giants scaling back on African content, Kava arrives at a time when the world is craving more from the continent.

For many creatives in the industry, this move could mean increased visibility, improved earnings, and an opportunity to shine globally. All while staying rooted in the stories that reflect African life and identity.
