Norwegian side Molde Fotballklubb have completed the permanent signing of Nigeria U-20 midfielder Daniel Demenenge Daga on a three-year deal. Daniel joins the 5-time Norwegian champions after a season-long loan with Enyimba FC in the Nigerian Professional Football League 23/24 season.
The teenager’s remarkable performances for the People’s Elephant caught the attention of Molde FK’s scouts, who were impressed by his physical strength, versatility, and maturity.
Daniel already has experience from the top division there [Enyimba] and is considered a great talent. We are very happy to bring in an exciting and talented player from Nigeria. We look forward to following his development here in Molde and helping him take new steps in his career. – Øystein Neerland, Molde FK’s CEO
The Benue-born prodigy became prominent at the Carabana Football Academy in Akwa Ibom. He quickly rose through the ranks and broke into FC ONE Rocket’s first team during the 21/22 Nigeria National League season.
In that same season, Daniel joined Dakkada F.C. in the Nigeria Professional Football League before moving to Enyimba F.C. in September 2023.
He was one of the standout stars for Nigeria at the 2023 Under-20 FIFA World Cup, helping a young squad reach the quarterfinals before crashing out to South Korea in a nervy penalty shootout.
Known for his utility, the 18-year-old can operate as a central midfielder, defensive midfielder, or central defender.
He has already begun training with Molde and is expected to make his first-team debut on Tuesday evening at the Aker Stadion against fellow Norwegian club SK Træff.
