Malian Soldiers Neutralise Another Terrorist Leader

The Malian Armed Forces have neutralised several fighters affiliated with the Katiba Macina group, including a wanted terrorist, during an operation in the Toladji sector of Léré, in the Timbuktu region.

Among those neutralised was Modibo Diallo, also known as Abbass, who had been responsible for multiple attacks on civilians and planting improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

The General Staff of the Armed Forces, in a statement, confirmed that the operation took place on October 14, 2024. Diallo and seven other fighters were killed during combat. Diallo was from Dindeki, a town 23 kilometres east of Nampala.

The military leadership said the security forces remain committed to protecting the country.

This announcement comes just five days after the military foiled a planned attack by terrorist groups northwest of Aguelhok, in the Kidal region, wherein a combat vehicle used by the attackers was destroyed, forcing them to retreat.

It will also be recalled that another notorious terrorist leader, Aliza Ould Yehia, and some of his men were reportedly neutralised by soldiers of the Malian Armed Forces in a face-off on October 7 after a long manhunt.
