Governor Abba Yusuf has urged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to make public the results of its investigation, on the alleged dollar bribery video involving former Kano State Governor Abdullahi Ganduje.

Governor Yusuf, through his spokesperson Sanusi Tofa, emphasised the need for transparency regarding the probe into the infamous “Gandollar saga.”

He called upon the EFCC to release the findings of its forensic investigation conducted in 2018, stating that it is imperative for public consumption.

The statement by Governor Yusuf comes amidst renewed hostility between him and Ganduje. Last week, Yusuf inaugurated two panels to investigate Ganduje’s eight-year administration with criminal charges filed against Ganduje, his wife, son, and five others by the government.

In response to these actions, Ganduje dismissed them as attempts to divert attention from what he termed as “weak governance” in Kano.

However, Yusuf remained firm in his stance, criticising Ganduje’s tenure as marked by corruption, nepotism, and inefficiency.

“Ganduje presided over two unproductive tenures characterised with siphoning public resources, inability to cater for the needs of Kano’s population, nepotism and bloodshed that left many families in the mood of melancholy,” the statement noted.

Yusuf advised Ganduje to focus on defending himself in court rather than engaging in media campaigns to salvage his image.

“For whatever option, the Kano State Government would advise the acting National Chairman of APC to show cause why his name, that of his family, and the entire people of Kano should permanently be erased from the global embarrassment that the dollar video has generated.”

“The administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf emphasised that it would leave no stone unturned to pursue the dollar video scandal to a logical conclusion.”

He reiterated his administration’s commitment to ensuring that Ganduje and his associates face legal consequences for their alleged wrongdoings.

Addressing Ganduje’s claims regarding the jurisdiction of the Kano Anti-corruption Agency, Yusuf dismissed them as frivolous, stating that the agency has the authority to investigate the matter.

Furthermore, Governor Yusuf warned Ganduje against implicating President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in his corruption scandal, asserting that the President does not interfere in judicial proceedings.

Yusuf also highlighted the financial challenges faced by his administration, attributing them to the alleged mismanagement of state resources during Ganduje’s tenure.
