Following an attack yesterday, 28 February, by gunmen on the Goningora area of Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, residents of the community protested by blocking the Abuja-Kaduna express road.

Channels TV reported that some members of the community were abducted, several others injured, and two people, including a member of the Civilian Joint Task Force, were killed in the Wednesday attack.

The protest led to heavy traffic buildup as motorists were stranded without alternative roads.

The attack comes barely a week after the Nigerian army neutralised a notorious bandit leader, Boderi Isyaku, and some of his men in the local government area.

A military armoured vehicle was burnt by the bandits when troops attempted to repel them, the report said.
