FG Sends INTERPOL After Escaped Binance Executive

The Nigerian government has launched a search for Nadeem Anjarwalla, a detained Binance executive who fled from custody on March 22.

According to a Premium Times Report, Anjarwalla evaded custody on Friday from an Abuja guest house where he and his colleague were detained, allegedly for tax evasion and other offences.

The escape reportedly occurred after guards took him to a nearby mosque for Ramadan prayers. This happened a day after a Federal High Court in Abuja hit the duo with a four-count criminal charge.

Confirming the escape, the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) revealed that Anjarwalla absconded using a smuggled passport. The incident has led to the arrest of security personnel responsible for his custody, with investigations underway to uncover the circumstances surrounding his flight.

“The personnel responsible for the custody of the suspect have been arrested, and a thorough investigation is ongoing to unravel the circumstances that led to his escape from lawful detention”, a statement signed by ONSA’s Head of Strategic Communication said.

Anjarwalla’s disappearance comes amid mounting legal scrutiny. The federal government is pursuing criminal charges against him and his colleague. Anjarwalla faces criminal charges, including tax evasion, and was scheduled to appear before a Federal High Court in Abuja on April 4.

Speaking on the matter, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, said, “There is now a manhunt on Anjarwalla.”

The Nigerian government is collaborating with INTERPOL to find and re-arrest him. As the search intensifies, authorities urge anyone with information on Anjarwalla’s whereabouts to come forward.
