A member of the So-Safe Corps was informed of the ongoing kidnapping attempt, and he forwarded the distress call to the Divisional Police Officer in the area.

Acting on the call he received, the DPO mobilized some of his men and went after the suspects, who were discovered to be three men. When confronted about their mission in the village, they could not give any definite reason and then attempted to escape. Tayo was caught, but the other two men remain at large.

The State police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola confirmed the arrest of the suspect, he also acknowledged the efforts of the So-Safe Corps and local vigilante groups of the community in apprehending the suspect.

Ms Omolola said Tayo allegedly confessed during interrogation to being a member of a kidnapping and child trafficking syndicate operating in the area and selling the kidnapped children in the Republic of Benin.

She appealed to members of the public to always report suspicious activities to help the police fight crime and asked the people of the area to be on the lookout for the other suspects who escaped.
