Celine Dion To Make Return At Paris Olympics Opening Ceremony

142

Celine Dion is set to make a highly anticipated return to the stage at the Paris Olympic Games, with speculation suggesting her performance will take place during the opening ceremony on Friday. This event will mark her first live appearance since she took a break from music and withdrew from public life following a diagnosis of Stiff Person Syndrome in 2022.

According to Variety Magazine, Dion arrived in Paris on Monday and stayed at the Royal Monceau Hotel. Notably, Lady Gaga, rumoured to perform at the opening ceremony, stays at the same hotel. Details regarding Dion’s performance remain tightly guarded.

In an April interview with Vogue France, Dion hinted at her potential return, saying,

I’ve chosen to work with all my body and soul, from head to toe, with a medical team. I want to be the best I can be. My goal is to see the Eiffel Tower again!

For the first time in Olympic history, the opening ceremony will be held outside a stadium, showcasing Paris’ iconic landmarks.

Dion has a history with the Olympics, having performed “The Power of the Dream” at the 1996 Atlanta Games, an event viewed by a record 3.5 billion people globally. Recently, she also lent her voice to a video for Canadian Olympians titled “L’invincible Courage” alongside Michael J. Fox.
