Nigerian artists Burna Boy and Odumodublvck, along with South Africa’s Maglera Doe Boy and Blxckie, have been nominated for the 2023 BET Hip-Hop Awards. These musicians are the only African artists recognized in this year’s lineup, showcasing their growing influence on the global stage.

Burna Boy, who gained international fame with his hit single “Ye,” has been nominated in the Best Live Performer category. The Grammy-winning artist, whose 2019 album African Giant included popular tracks like “On the Low” and “Anybody,” continues to solidify his reputation as one of Africa’s most prominent music exports.

Odumodublvck, born Tochukwu Gbubemi Ojogwu, is up for Best International Flow. Known for his debut hit single “Picanto” featuring Zlatan, Odumodublvck has quickly gained recognition, including winning Rookie of the Year and Best Rap Single at the 2023 Headies.

Megan Thee Stallion leads this year’s BET Hip-Hop Awards with 12 nominations, followed closely by Drake with 11 nods. The awards ceremony will take place on October 8.
