Burkina Faso’s Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, stated that the country would withdraw its mining permits from countries that refuse to sell war weapons and block the deliveries of equipment components bought from other countries.
Captain Traoré disclosed this last week while speaking to the representatives of the Armed forces of the nation in Ouagadougou, as they came to listen to the vision of the Head of State for the conduct of the Transition over the next five-year term.
“You cannot exploit our mineral resources, and you refuse to sell us military equipment, or you block them; we are not going to accept,” warned the Burkinabè head of state to countries that hold permits to exploit the country’s minerals.
According to Traoré,
These (undisclosed) countries who have refused to sell us weapons are in Burkina Faso exploiting minerals from the region.
He further stated that the countries blocked the equipment purchased in undisclosed countries because they have the licence for specific war equipment components.
It is going to stop. We are going to withdraw mining permits. We are not going to allow this,” he stated.
While educating the Burkinabé people about the fight ahead, he said,
Many strategies have already been written, and we adapt them as the enemy behaves. And we will very soon defeat this terrorism here in Burkina and even in the AES, as the country has been at war against terrorism since 2015.
