Burkina Faso’s government and its partners plan to urgently produce mineral fertilisers worth 15 billion CFA Franc ($24.9 Million) to enhance agricultural productivity.

On Wednesday, the Council of Ministers announced that the project will be funded by the Burkinabè State, the West African Development Bank (BOAD), and the Société d’exploitation des phosphates du Burkina (SEPB).

According to the council’s report, the project aims to improve agricultural productivity and ensure farmers can access quality fertilisers in sufficient quantities and at competitive prices.

The government now awaits approval from the Transitional Legislative Assembly to carry on with the project.
