A clash has erupted between members of the proscribed Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), commonly known as Shi’ites, and police officers in Kaduna State today.

The confrontation unfolded in the Central Market area, with disturbing footage shared on the X platform, depicting police officers in pursuit of individuals while shooting.

The scenes captured the intensity of the clash as tensions flared between the two groups.

Reports indicated that members of the IMN had organised a road demonstration in the Central Market area on Friday.

Speaking to FIJ, a witness explained that such protests often take a violent turn as IMN members express their dissatisfaction with the government’s treatment of their leader, Ibrahim Zakzaky.  The witness further said that the situation had calmed down and Muslims had been able to go out to observe Friday afternoon prayers.
