According to the News Central TV correspondent, Umaru Kirawa, protesters were running after the gun shots were fired, while shouting that they need improvement from the government.

The gunshots are being fired by security operatives to scare away protesters.

Last week Thursday, the Borno State Police Command warned residents not to partake in the planned nationwide protest, citing that the state was still under “a state of emergency, and therefore, the ban on any form of public procession in the state still subsists”

However, a crowd of residents are protesting in the streets of Borno state Thursday, unfazed by the tear gas cannisters being shot by the Police at them.
