Biodun Stephen’s New Film Muri & Ko Grosses ₦50 Million in Debut Week

Biodun Stephen’s latest film, “Muri & Ko,” has grossed ₦50 million in its first seven days in cinemas, underscoring its widespread popularity and strong reception. The film, directed by the acclaimed Stephen, premiered on June 12, 2024.

The impressive earnings reflect the movie’s vast appeal, with an average daily revenue of ₦4 million and a peak of ₦9.7 million on Monday, June 17, 2024. The Cinema Exhibitors Association of Nigeria (CEAN) confirmed these figures, noting the film’s robust performance.

Muri & Ko” features an ensemble cast led by Kunle Remi, who portrays Muri, a Lagos street hustler. The cast includes notable performances from Bisola Aiyeola, Kiekie Adeaga Ilori, Femi Jacobs, Buchi Franklin, Charles Okocha, Gloria Anozie-Young, and Fiyinfoluwa Asenuga.

The film’s soundtrack, especially the debut single “Muri Picka” by Kunle Remi, released on Spotify on June 21, 2024, has added to its appeal.

Muri & Ko follows the story of Muri, whose life takes an unexpected and dramatic turn when he steals a car only to discover a child inside. 

The strong performance of “Muri & Ko” highlights the film’s popularity and solidifies Biodun Stephen’s reputation as a leading filmmaker in Nollywood.
