Bandits Kill Two, Abduct NYSC Members on Ifon/Owo Road in Ondo

According to reports, bandits launched a deadly attack on passengers travelling along the Ifon/Owo road in Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State on Friday night.

The assailants, numbering over 20, ambushed a Sienna space bus conveying several individuals, resulting in fatalities and abductions, according to reports.

According to eyewitness reports gathered by journalists, the passengers, including members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), were en route to Owo from Anambra State when they fell victim to the violent assault.

Among those kidnapped was Adewole Paul Oluwaseun, a corps member returning from the NYSC camp in Enugu.

The incident has created tension in the family, lamented Mr Oluwaseun Ogunmola, revealing that the bandits had already contacted the family of one of the kidnapped corps members, demanding a ransom of N30 million.

The bandits’ attack resulted in the deaths of two individuals.

The driver of the Sienna bus and a young lady seated in the front was fatally wounded by gunfire while attempting to evade capture.

Their bodies have been taken to a private hospital morgue in Ifon town.

In response to the distressing incident, Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, the Police Public Relations Officer in Ondo, confirmed the details in a telephone interview with DailyTrust.

We are actively pursuing the perpetrators. I can assure you that every effort is being made to ensure the rescue of those kidnapped, she affirmed.
