As Protests Brew, NNPC Advertises Job Offers, Portal Crashes Amid High Demand

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) has announced a significant recruitment exercise for various department positions. However, the company’s job application portal has been experiencing downtime due to “unprecedented traffic” from applicants.

The NNPC spokesperson, Olufemi Soneye, confirmed the recruitment and directed interested applicants to the NNPC careers page for application instructions. Despite the high demand, the company assured that the application process deadline remains August 20, 2024.

Please be assured that the application process deadline remains Aug 20, 2024,” he said.

The recruitment portal has been experiencing slow load times and server error messages, which prompted netizens to speculate in NNPC’s comment section that the public notice was only a hoax. The company has, however, responded by saying that its technicians are working to resolve the issues as soon as possible.

The NNPC’s recruitment exercise is notably the major one since the company fully transformed into a limited company in 2022. It is further noted that NNPC’s recent move coincides with the onset of a nationwide protest scheduled to begin in August.

NNPC’s Available Positions:

Disciplines – Geosciences, Petroleum Engineering, Well Engineering, General Engineering, Operations Engineering, Commercial. Finance, Accounts, Audit, Taxation & Insurance Personnel positions are open.  Legal Experts and Graduate Trainees are also listed.

NNPC states that applicants must have graduated from an accredited university/polytechnic/mono-technic not earlier than 2019. They must have completed the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and must not be more than 28 years of age as of December 31, 2024.

See more information about the recruitment here.
