A “The Devil Wears Prada” Sequel Is Coming

Disney is developing a sequel to the 2006 hit movie “The Devil Wears Prada,” with Meryl Streep potentially reprising her role as the formidable fashion editor Miranda Priestly, according to Puck. The original film, a beloved classic, stars Anne Hathaway as Andrea Sachs, a journalism graduate struggling to survive as Priestly’s junior assistant at the high-powered Runway magazine.

The sequel is set to follow Priestly as she navigates her career amid the decline of traditional magazine publishing, facing off against Emily Charlton, portrayed by Emily Blunt, now a high-powered executive for a luxury group with crucial advertising dollars.

Aline Brosh McKenna, the screenwriter for the original film, is in talks to return to pen the new chapter. The details regarding the return of other original cast members remain unclear.

“The Devil Wears Prada” was a box office sensation, grossing $326.7 million worldwide. The film earned Meryl Streep a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Comedy and an Academy Award nomination. Additionally, Patricia Field received an Oscar nomination for the film’s costume design.

Disney has yet to comment on the sequel’s development.
