Sportsmanship: PréFaso Clinch Third Consecutive Victory Over Burkinabè Football Legends

The Presidency of Faso’s football team, also known as “PréFaso,” has secured a 3-1 victory over a star-studded squad of Burkinabè football professionals and legends. The friendly match, now a yearly tradition, marks the third consecutive win for PréFaso in what has become a symbolic showcase of unity, pride, and sporting spirit.

Among the highlights of the match, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, Head of State and captain of PréFaso, got his name on the scoresheet, converting a penalty just before halftime to double his team’s lead. His goal came after Commander Basile Zongo opened the scoring in the 40th minute, and Zongo later sealed a brace with another strike in the 48th.

Despite a formidable lineup featuring national and international stars such as Bertrand and Alain Traoré, Bakary Koné, Moumouni Dagano, Mohamed Koffi, Patrick Malo, Edmond Tapsoba, and even Cameroonian goalkeeper André Onana, the professionals struggled to match the determination and cohesion of the presidential squad. Strongman Iron Biby also made a surprise appearance in the goal, adding flair to the event. Préjuce Nakoulma managed to pull one back for the pros, but it wasn’t enough to mount a comeback.

Speaking after the match, Captain Traoré applauded both teams for their sportsmanship and used the occasion to call on athletes to remain committed ambassadors of Burkina Faso. He emphasised the importance of investing in the country and fostering unity and cohesion.
