Alma Asinobi To Attempt Guinness World Record for Fastest Trip Across Seven Continents

878

Nigerian travel creator Alma Asinobi is on a mission to break the Guinness World Record for the fastest time by visiting all seven continents while shedding light on Africans’ struggles with passport privilege.

Alma will start her journey from Antarctica on March 15, 2025, with plans to visit Australia and the remaining continents in record time. The current record, set in December 2022 by Indian travellers Sujoy Kumar Mitra and Ali Irani, stands at 3 days, 1 hour, 5 minutes, and 4 seconds.

Beyond breaking records, Alma’s mission highlights the travel restrictions African passport holders face.

I’m doing this with a Nigerian passport to shed more light on the issue of passport privilege, or in our case… the lack thereof, she explained.

Alma revealed that she applied for over 10 visas and faced five rejections for two countries during the planning process. Despite these hurdles, she remains determined to push the limits of what’s possible.

I’m pushing the limits of one of the lowest-ranking passports in the world on this adventure, to show you what’s possible, and inspire you to see the world regardless of the limitations, she said.

If successful, Alma’s journey will not only break a world record but also amplify conversations about equal travel opportunities for Africans.
