The civic platform KnowDemWell has declared Islamism as the political ideology of Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima Ibrahim.

The platform defined Islamism as “a fundamentalist, often extremist form of Islam that advocates the establishment of an Islamic state that is socially and politically based on the Sharia law.”

The KnowDemWell platform, which “profiles politicians based on their verifiable track record, ideology, manifesto, and policies, or performance in public office,” has recorded 13 corruption scandals on Vice-President Shettima’s profile.

The platform also notes that Shettima has not been convicted for any of his alleged vices, including the alleged embezzlement of 600 Billion Naira by Shettima while he was Governor of Borno State, his harboring of Boko Haram terrorist Kabiru Sokoto, as well as his support for conscripting child soldiers to fight Boko Haram insurgents.

According to the group, the Performance Verdict for Kashim Shettima as Nigeria’s current Vice President stands at 32.33 per cent, which is considered a low performance based on seven key performance indicators.

In December 2024, KnowDemWell described President Tinubu’s regime as a “Totalitarian Democracy.”
