PSquare: Mr. P Refutes Rudeboy’s Song Theft Accusation Amid Ongoing Feud

91

Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr. P and one-half of the renowned Nigerian music duo PSquare, has denied allegations of song theft made by his twin brother, Paul Okoye (Rudeboy). The latest dispute adds fuel to their longstanding family feud, which has kept fans and industry watchers speculating about the future of P-Square.

Rudeboy recently accused Mr P of releasing his song “Winning,” claiming he wrote and performed the song, which he intended for an upcoming solo album. He further alleged that Mr. P collaborated with producer Vampire to record and release the track without permission.

In response, Mr. P took to Instagram, stating that the song “Winning” was co-written by himself and songwriter Calypso60 and not solely by Rudeboy as claimed. Mr P dismissed the accusation as unfounded, emphasising that he could not “steal his own property.” He also expressed frustration with the ongoing negativity and urged his brother to allow him to focus on his music career.

“Person, no dey thief him own Property! It is well!” Mr. P posted, thanking Vampire for his support and clarification. He credited Vampire and co-producer Goldswarm for their roles in the song’s production and emphasised that the team deserves recognition for their work. Mr P also appealed for peace, encouraging fans to enjoy the single “Winning,” which is now available on streaming platforms.

The rift between Peter and Paul dates back to 2017 when the brothers first went their separate ways to pursue solo careers. Though reunited briefly in 2021, tensions resurfaced, leading to more public spats and accusations. Earlier this year, Paul Okoye and their older brother Jude were brought in for questioning by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), with Paul alleging that Peter had orchestrated the arrest over unresolved financial disputes. Peter explained how Jude Okoye and Rudeboy were involved in shady dealings in their company, unbeknownst to Mr P, hence the questioning by EFCC.

Despite calls from fans for a resolution, the Okoye brothers remain divided, casting doubt on whether P-Square will ever fully reconcile. For now, Mr P appears focused on his music while the feud continues to play out in the public eye.
