A Magistrate Court in Ogba, Lagos State, has ordered the remand of 23-year-old, Ayomide Adeleye in the Lagos Correctional Facility, Kirikiri, Alusa, for the murder of Christianah Idowu, a 21-year-old student of the Federal University of Agriculture (FUNAAB), Abeokuta.

He was arraigned by the Lagos State Police Command. FIJ reported that Seyi Omodara, presided over the hearing on Thursday.

According toreports, the police filed a two-count charge against Adeleye, accusing him of violating the Kidnapping Prohibition Law (2017) and the Criminal Law of Lagos (2015).

It will be recalled that reports indicated that Adeleye lured Idowu into his family’s house, where he attempted to assault her and subsequently strangled her to death.

After ‘killing’ her, Adeleye demanded for a ransom by sending a picture of Idowu’s lifeless body to Ozobia, pretending she was still alive and demanded N3 million for her release.

This led to a widespread search for Idowu, but the case ended tragically with her body discovered on September 1.

Adeleye was arrested by soldiers from the 174 Battalion the same day, and he confessed to the crime shortly after his capture.

Also, Adeyeye  is reportedly being investigated for the deaths of two other women close to him—his ex-girlfriend in 2018 and his biological sister in 2020—both of whom died under suspicious circumstances similar to Christiannah’s murder.
