Three Oyo Students Face Murder Charges After Fatal Fight With Classmate

412

Three students from Iseyin College of Health Science and Technology have been remanded at the Agodi Correctional Centre in Ibadan, following the death of their 16-year-old classmate, Eniola Ismail.

The accused—Shodimu Halima, 18, Agbedun Zainab, 23, and Olaleye Oladunni, 23—were arraigned before the Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan on charges of conspiracy and murder. The arraignment occurred on Tuesday, according to a media report.

The police claim the students were involved in a fight with Ismail on July 29. Ismail later went home complaining of body pains and died shortly afterward. The prosecutor, Inspector Femi Oluwadare, stated that the charges against the trio are in violation of the Oyo State Criminal Code.

Chief Magistrate M. Mudashiru, who presided over the case, did not take their pleas due to a lack of jurisdiction. He ordered their remand pending legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecution. The case has been adjourned to December 30 for mention.
