The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has appointed German coach Bruno Labbadia as the new Head Coach of Nigeria’s Senior Men’s National Team, the Super Eagles. Labbadia, who becomes the 37th person to lead the team, takes over months after the abrupt resignation of former coach Finidi George.

The NFF General Secretary, Dr Mohammed Sanusi, announced early Tuesday that the NFF Executive Committee had approved the recommendation of its Technical and Development Sub-Committee to appoint Labbadia.

The 57-year-old German tactician has managed several Bundesliga clubs, including VfB Stuttgart, Hamburg SV, and Hertha BSC.

Labbadia’s appointment is seen as a significant move by the NFF. His most notable achievements include leading Hamburg to a seventh-place finish in the 2009-2010 Bundesliga season and guiding VfL Wolfsburg to Europa League qualification in the 2018-2019 season.
