On Sunday morning, hoodlums attacked and chased away #EndBadGovernance protesters who had gathered at Gani Fawehinmi Park in Ojota, Lagos State. A journalist with TheCable was slapped while reporting at Ojota after protesters were asked to go home.

The incidents occurred after the Police addressed the protesters, urging them to leave the area peacefully.

Shortly after the police’s intervention, a group of individuals, whom the protesters claimed were sponsored, arrived from the other side of the road and began to disperse the crowd.

If not for the police, we would have dispersed you since the first day, one of the hoodlums said.

At around 10:30 a.m., a significant disagreement emerged among the protest leaders. A lawyer, identified as JP, urged the protesters to disperse, citing President Bola Tinubu’s recent address to the nation.

However, a faction led by 70-year-old Adegboyega Adeniji of Peace Action Transformation insisted on continuing the protest until further notice.  ”I’m Against Tinubu’s Policy, #EndBadGovernance,”  he said.

By 11:30 a.m., the hoodlums had returned, forcibly chasing all the protesters away from the park.

Despite the disruptions, the protesters had initially chanted solidarity songs following President Tinubu’s address.

They expressed dissatisfaction, stating that the President had failed to address the core issues they raised despite outlining his administration’s efforts.

Earlier Sunday morning, security agents had restricted the protesters from holding a procession beyond the designated grounds at Gani Fawehinmi Park.

The protesters complied without argument and returned to the designated area before being dispersed by the hoodlums.

The #EndBadGovernance protests, driven by widespread frustration over hunger, corruption, and economic hardships, continue to be marked by violence and unrest.
