Filmmaker Omoni Oboli has announced the return of her acclaimed film series with a new spinoff titled The Uprising: Wives on Strike 3, set to hit theatres in the fourth quarter of 2024. The announcement was made via an Instagram post on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, where Oboli expressed her excitement and gratitude for the continuation of the series.

The original Wives on Strike was released in 2016, followed by a successful sequel, Wives on Strike: The Revolution, in 2017. The series followed a group of women who, to combat gender-based violence and forced marriage in their community, deny their husbands sex to motivate them to advocate for change. The films, while humorous, addressed severe societal issues affecting women.

Oboli thanked her cast and crew in her announcement, stating, “This journey has been one of passion, perseverance, and unwavering dedication. To my incredible cast and crew, thank you for your tireless efforts and belief in this project. And to my fans, your love and support have been my guiding light through it all.”

The new film will feature returning stars Chioma Akpotha, Uche Jombo, Ufuoma McDermott, and Oboli herself. It will also introduce new cast members, including veteran actress Hilda Dokubo, Bukunmi Adeaga-Ilori (KieKie), and May Yul-Edochie.

Oboli, known for her works such as Love is War, Moms at War, and Being Mrs. Elliot, has established herself as a prominent figure in Nollywood. She has starred in numerous other Nollywood productions and has a significant presence on YouTube with various projects.

The anticipation for The Uprising: Wives on Strike 3 is building as fans eagerly await its release later this year.
