There was a rowdy response from graduates, parents and guests against Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State at the 22nd undergraduate and 13th postgraduate convocation ceremonies of Babcock University on Sunday.

Today, the Dapo Abiodun administration of Ogun State announced the commencement of a massive rehabilitation and reconstruction project targeting many of the state’s roads.

Residents of Ogun State, who recently called out the governor on social media over the deplorable state of roads, can expect some road reconstruction and rehabilitation.

This move came after a wave of complaints under the hashtag #DapoFixOgunRoad on X. These complaints included the lousy state of the roads within the state, including those that had become impassable due to flooding.

In response to these calls for action, the Commissioner for Works, Engr. Ade Akinsanya revealed that the administration prioritises road repairs based on available funds and the economic significance of the roads.

Akinsanya noted that 120 roads, spanning the 20 local governments in the state, were identified by stakeholders as needing urgent attention.

According to Akinsaya, Governor Abiodun engaged community leaders, including royal fathers, lawmakers, local government chairpersons, and religious leaders, to ensure the rehabilitation efforts address the most critical areas to know the roads requiring immediate intervention.

While some residents on X expressed optimism about the promise to fix some of the roads in the states, others await to see the steps to assist road users within the state.
