… Govt Allegedly Threatens To Shut Down Media House

The fear of a massacre looms among protesting Kenyans as state-sponsored Police fire live ammunition at protesters who have breached the country’s parliament building.

A viral video on X showed protesters carrying two bodies and rushing them to the hospital. It is not clear if they are alive or dead. Another video showed the lifeless body of a protester soaked in blood in front of the parliament.

The police continue to fire teargas and live ammunition but the protesters remain unfazed as millions of them remain on the streets.

Meanwhile, a media outlet, Standard Group, has alleged that the government threatened to shut them down.

The outlet, based along Mombasa Road, made the allegation during a live coverage but it did not state the specific office or the individual who threatened to shut them down.

“We have received threats from the government of intentions to shut us down. We would like to inform the public of our commitment to defend public interests and we shall not be coward by any threats even as we continue to inform the public of the happening on the ground,” a news anchor announced on air.

West Africa Weekly’s source confirmed that more troops of Soldiers and Policemen have been deployed to quell the protest. They fear the government may declare a state of emergency.
