Ukrainians are suffering from widespread power outages as Russia’s recent missile attack hits the country’s energy infrastructure.

Recall that Russia recently intensified its attacks on Ukraine’s energy grid before proposing another conditional peace deal of an ‘immediate’ and ‘permanent’ ceasefire.

In a sad turn of events, several media on Friday reported a “massive attack”, causing several injuries to workers at the grid.

Ukraine’s energy ministry, confirming the attack, said, “The situation in the energy sector remains difficult” while citing injuries incurred as a result of shelling at one of the facilities.

Owning to the Russian attack, the Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelenskiy, on Saturday evening, urged Ukraine’s Western allies, including the United States, to speed up deliveries of air defence systems.

Modern air defence systems for Ukraine – such as Patriots, accelerated training of our pilots for F-16s, and most importantly, sufficient range for our weapons – are truly necessary,” the Ukrainian president said.

Until these expected deliverables are carried out, the Ukrainian government is subjected to Russia’s attack.

In response to the claim of casualties by Ukraine officials, Russia accused Ukraine of attacking the city of Sevastopol with five US-supplied Atacms missiles, killing five people and injuring about 100 more.

Ukraine had struck the civilian infrastructure of the city of Sevastopol with Atacms tactical missiles supplied by the United States and equipped with cluster warheads,” Russia’s defence ministry said.

Russian defence ministry maintained that the U.S. was primarily responsible for the missile attack and vowed to retaliate against the now-circulating footage of fleeing civilians after the explosion.
