Paris 2024 Olympics: Quadri Aruna Qualifies for Nigeria in Table Tennis

The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) has officially confirmed the qualification of Nigeria’s Quadri Aruna and Algeria’s Lynda Loghraibi for the singles events at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

This announcement, made on Friday, highlights significant milestones in the qualification process with less than 50 days remaining until the Games commence.

The ITTF’s statement also confirmed the participation of athletes from various continents, reflecting the global nature of the competition.

Eight athletes secured their spots this week through the latest world ranking update, which determined the continental quotas.

In the Men’s Singles draw, Quadri Aruna from Nigeria joins the roster alongside Nicolas Burgos from Chile (Americas), Kirill Gerassimenko from Kazakhstan (Asia), and Alvaro Robles from Spain (Europe). Robles had previously qualified in the Mixed Doubles event.

The Women’s Singles competition will feature Algeria’s Lynda Loghraibi (Africa), Adriana Diaz of Puerto Rico (Americas), Zhou Jingyi of Singapore (Asia), and Yang Xiaoxin of Monaco (Europe).

The countdown to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games intensifies, and ITTF is thrilled to announce significant progress in the qualification process for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the federation stated.

The ITTF noted that the qualification process is nearing its final stage, with one more world ranking update scheduled before the final roster for Paris is confirmed.

Next week’s rankings will be crucial in determining the remaining competitors for the Olympic Games, where 86 men and 86 women are expected to compete in the singles events.

Additionally, the ITTF has named three African umpires for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games: Akram Ben Attia (Tunisia), Es-Sayed Elrawdy (Egypt), and Ronald Mugwanya (Uganda).
