Anthony Joshua, the Nigerian-British boxer, has announced the date and potential opponents for his upcoming fight. Following his knockout victory over Francis Ngannou in Saudi Arabia earlier this year, Joshua confirmed that his next bout will occur at London’s Wembley Stadium in September.

Joshua revealed that his next opponent will be selected from the undercard of the Frank Warren and Eddie Hearn 5 vs five night on June 1 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This event features matchups such as Deontay Wilder vs Zhilei Zhang and Daniel Dubois vs Filip Hrgovic.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Joshua stated,

It’s going to be in London, Wembley Stadium. This is what I’m being told. If that’s what [the Saudis] say, they usually back their word, so let’s go with that: Wembley, 20 or 21 September.

Regarding his opponent selection process, Joshua explained,

Providing one of those looks good… the one who looks the best, His Excellency Turki Al-Sheikh said to me: ‘I want you to fight [him].’ He emphasised the importance of facing formidable opponents to build a legacy.

Joshua also expressed alignment with fans’ desires for a matchup against Tyson Fury, indicating that negotiations are underway to make that fight happen. With anticipation building, boxing enthusiasts eagerly await further updates on Joshua’s next opponent and the potential for a high-stakes showdown in the ring.
