Popular crossdresser Idris Okuneye, widely known as Bobrisky, shocked the court on Friday by confessing to being a man. Bobrisky, known for his flamboyant style and often dressing as a woman, faced Justice Abimbola Awogboro, who inquired about his gender.

To the surprise of many, Bobrisky promptly responded,

I am a man, My Lord.

Following this admission, the judge sentenced Bobrisky to a 6-month jail term, ruling that the sentence would commence from the day of his arrest.

Bobrisky has previously claimed to have undergone various surgeries to transition to a woman.

However, occasional appearances in male attire have fueled speculation and garnered attention.

The recent courtroom confession comes amidst a series of controversies surrounding Bobrisky, including his arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over allegations of abusing the Nigerian currency, spraying naira notes, and currency mutilation.

Furthermore, Bobrisky’s participation in a movie premiere where he was awarded the title of ‘best-dressed female’ sparked outrage and condemnation from some quarters.

Singer Portable was among those who publicly criticised Bobrisky’s gender identity, leading to a heated exchange of expletives between the two personalities. At the same time, he (Portable) released a single titled ‘Brotherhood’ in the heat of the controversy.

The filmmaker behind the movie, Eniola Ajao, subsequently apologised to those offended by the decision to honour Bobrisky with the award, attributing it to a publicity stunt.
