Rema Stuns Crowd at Dreamville Festival, Calls Out Sound Issues Mid-Performance

187

Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Rema made headlines at the 2024 Dreamville Festival in North Carolina, captivating audiences with his electrifying performance. However, the excitement was short-lived as Rema stunned attendees midway through his set on day two of the festival at Dix Park in Raleigh.

During his rendition of his hit track ‘Calm Down,’ Rema abruptly halted his performance, expressing frustration over the subpar sound quality. He passionately advocated for African artists to receive the same level of sound production as their Western counterparts when performing on international stages.

In a candid moment on stage, Rema declared,

Hold on, there are too many sound issues. It’s messing up my whole performance. I’m seriously not feeling this shit. I’m representing Africa, and this is too messed up. If the sound cannot be perfect for every artist that gets on this stage… Africa is in the house, and you are messing shit up?

The Dreamville Festival, founded by American hip-hop icon J. Cole, celebrates diverse music genres and showcases established and emerging talents from around the world.

Rema’s bold stance at the festival highlights the importance of ensuring equitable treatment and production standards for artists from all backgrounds, fostering a more inclusive and dynamic music industry landscape.
