Israel Dismisses Officers Over “Grave Mistake” in Strike on Aid Workers

Following an investigation, the Israeli military has acknowledged “grave mistakes” in the drone strike in Gaza that killed seven aid workers on April 1.
Two officers, a colonel and a major, respectively, have been dismissed, while senior commanders received formal reprimands.
The air strike, intended for Hamas militants, had mistakenly targeted the three vehicles of the World Central Kitchen charity, according to the Israeli inquiry.
“This was a grave mistake due to mistaken identification and a violation of Standard Operating Procedures,” said the Israeli military on Friday via a statement.
The tragic incident, which involved nationals from Britain, Australia, Poland, the US, Canada, and a Palestinian, drew worldwide condemnation, with critics accusing Israel of lacking regard for civilian casualties in Gaza.
