Boston Declares ‘Burna Boy Day’ on March 2nd

Boston, Massachusetts, USA, has officially declared March 2nd as “Burna Boy Day” in honour of the renowned Nigerian singer. The declaration was made through a document from the Boston City Council signed by Councillor Ruthzee Louijeune.

The document acknowledged Burna Boy’s outstanding performances and advocacy efforts and highlighted Boston’s commitment to embracing and celebrating cultural diversity. It recognised Burna Boy’s legacy as a symbol of possibility and emphasised the importance of amplifying historically marginalised voices.

March 2nd, 2024, marks the inaugural Burna Boy Day in the City of Boston, a tribute to the artist’s significant contributions to music and cultural exchange. Burna Boy’s popularity in Boston is evident through his numerous sold-out shows since gaining international acclaim in 2018.
