The Tinubu-led administration – APC has given directives to pay the State House Electricity Bill on Wednesday.
This follows the advertorial titled ‘Notice of disconnection’ published on Monday, as the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) said the presidential villa owes an electricity bill of N923.87 million.
In the press release, Tinubu directs the Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, to pay N342,352,217.46 out of N923.87m as the debt owed to the Abuja Electricity Distribution Plc.
In part, the statement reads:
Contrary to the AEDC’s initial claim of N923million debt in a paid advertorial in newspapers, the State House’s outstanding bill is N342,352,217.46, according to a letter by the management of AEDC to the State House Permanent Secretary dated February 14, 2024.
While the debt owed has not been cleared, Gbajabiamila promised that the debt of N342,352,217.46 will be cleared before the end of the week.
Meanwhile, other MDAs of the government offices still owe the AEDC a massive amount of electricity bills yet to be cleared.
