Nigerian artist Rema, renowned for his global hit ‘Calm Down’, earned his debut BRITs nomination in the International Song of the Year category. He joins a stellar lineup including Jungle, Dua Lipa, Kylie Minogue, and Raye, the most nominated artist of the year.

Expressing his gratitude, Rema shared his honour in returning to the O2 Arena for the BRIT Awards performance. Competing for the International Song of the Year alongside esteemed global artists, Rema faces stiff competition from Cameroon’s Libianca and South Africa’s Grammy winner Tyla.

Notably, fellow Nigerian acts Asake and Burna Boy vie for the prestigious International Artist of the Year Award, challenging a diverse field of contenders including Caroline Polachek and Lana Del Rey.

Rema’s BRITs performance follows a successful year of touring Europe and the United States, culminating in a sold-out show at the O2 Arena in November. ‘Calm Down’ achieved a significant milestone as the first African track to surpass 1 billion streams on Spotify, earning Rema accolades including the Best Afrobeats Award at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards.

With British singer-songwriter Raye leading the nominations with seven nods, followed closely by Central Cee and J Hus, the BRIT Awards promises an exciting celebration of international talent and achievement.
