Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice-President and presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 general election, has clarified his association with Daniel Bwala, saying that Bwala was not his aide but served as the spokesperson for the Atiku/Okowa presidential campaign.

In a statement released by Atiku’s media office, it was stated that Bwala provided his services and support to the Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign Organisation, specifically as a spokesperson during the previous presidential campaign.

“Bwala offered his services and support to the Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign Organisation as a spokesperson – and it was a position he held during the last presidential campaign.

“Subsequently, and after the election, the need for a campaign spokesperson has terminated, and Bwala has moved on with his career,” Atiku clarified.

Furthermore, Atiku highlighted that with the conclusion of the election, the role of a campaign spokesperson ceased to exist, and Bwala has since pursued other opportunities in his career.

Urging the recognition of Bwala based on his current vocation and affiliations, Atiku reiterated, “This, therefore, serves as notice to the media and the interested public to desist from defining Bwala as an ex-aide of Atiku Abubakar.”

“We duly urge the public to henceforth recognize, introduce, and define Daniel Bwala by his current vocation and alliance,” he said.

This comes after Bwala had publicly announced his admiration and commitment to supporting President Tinubu, who Atiku lost to during the 2023 presidential election.
