Gunmen threaten to marry abducted Katsina bride

Bandits have threatened to marry the bride abducted with her friends in Katsina. They released a video of the 63 women abducted last Thursday while escorting the newly wedded bride to her new home.

Brandishing AK47 guns in military and police uniforms in the video, they said the women were 63 and not 55, as earlier reported. They threatened anyone who attempted to rescue the women from their hands.

“You can see them here; anyone taking them should try it and see. They should stop lying; they’re 63. Here is the bride; she’d be married off if she is not rescued; the driver is also here,” they said.

The women asked their family members to help them because the government would not come to their aid. “Please help us; the government would not rescue us, so please help us, for God’s sake. They did not maltreat us, they did not beat or abuse us, but we need your help,” the women chorused.

The driver who spoke on their behalf said, “Help us so our families can bring the ransom to rescue us. They got here without any abuse, but we want to return home.”

The bandits allegedly abducted the women on February 1, along Damari town in Sabuwa Local Government Area of the Katsina State. The ransom demand is yet to be known at the time of this report.
