In a recent interview on Channels TV’s ‘Politics Today’ program, Nigeria Police Public Relations Officer (PRO) Olumuyiwa Adejobi spoke on the diverse factors contributing to insecurity across various regions of the country.

Contrary to widespread concerns, Adejobi dismissed claims of a rise in kidnapping incidents, urging the public to disregard what they see on social media platforms.

Furthermore, Adejobi highlighted the unique geographical features of different regions as key determinants of the prevalent security challenges. According to him, Lagos grapples with insecurities related to its extensive waterways. In Ekiti, dense forests are cited as a contributing factor.

However, Adejobi emphasized that despite these regional variations, kidnapping incidents are not on the rise as portrayed on social media platforms. He urged the public to rely on verified information and refrain from spreading unverified reports that could incite panic and misinformation.

The statements by the Nigeria Police PRO come amid heightened concerns over the security situation in the country, with various regions grappling with a range of criminal activities, including kidnapping, banditry, and insurgency.
