Stanley Nwabali Available for Nigeria’s Quarterfinal Clash Against Angola

Nigeria’s national football team, the Super Eagles, has received a boost ahead of their upcoming quarterfinal match against Angola in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament. Stanley Nwabali, the goalkeeper for Chippa United, would be available for selection for Friday’s crucial encounter.

Nwabali’s participation was momentarily in doubt after sustaining an injury during Nigeria’s Round of 16 match against Cameroon. The injury occurred following a collision with Cameroon’s Georges-Kévin N’Koudou, prompting his substitution by Frank Uzoho in the 80th minute of the game.

Despite the injury scare, the latest reports indicates that Nwabali is on track to feature in Friday’s quarterfinal showdown against Angola.

His return to the starting lineup comes as a welcome news for the Super Eagles, especially considering his stellar performance thus far in the tournament.

Notably, Nigeria’s defensive record at the AFCON has been formidable, with the team conceding the fewest goals among all participating nations.

This defensive solidity owes much to Nwabali’s commanding presence between the goalposts, where he has made eight crucial saves and kept three consecutive clean sheets during the tournament.

The upcoming match against Angola is scheduled to take place at the Felix Houphouet-Boigny Stadium in Abidjan, with kickoff set for 5:00 PM GMT on Friday.

With Nwabali’s availability and the Super Eagles’ impressive defensive resilience, anticipation is high as Nigeria aims to secure a spot in the tournament’s semifinals.
