Lagos, Nigeria, has ranked 6th in Africa and 26th globally in the latest crime index released by Numbeo. With a crime index of 68.0, Lagos finds itself among the top 30 cities worldwide grappling with significant crime rates.

Factors such as poverty, unemployment, and socio-economic disparities contribute to the environment where some individuals resort to illicit activities for survival.

Despite being a bustling economic hub and a beacon of opportunity for many, Lagos has long struggled with crime, including issues related to theft, robbery, and occasional instances of violent crime.

The city’s sprawling population and rapid urbanization further exacerbate these challenges, placing immense pressure on law enforcement agencies to maintain order and ensure public safety.
