Blinken Visits Nigeria, meets Tinubu in Abuja

The U.S. Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, arrived at the Presidential Villa today for an official visit to Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. 

The visit is part of Blinken’s broader tour of the West African sub-region, which has already included stops in Cape Verde and Cote d’Ivoire and will continue with a visit to Angola after concluding discussions in Nigeria.

Blinken’s plane touched down at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja at approximately 4 pm, where he was received by top Nigerian officials. 

Secretary Blinken is set to depart for Lagos at around 10 pm for additional engagements scheduled for tomorrow. 

The visit to Lagos is expected to include discussions with business leaders, civil society representatives, and other key stakeholders. 

To receive Secretary Blinken with Tinubu were the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, the Minister of Information, Mohammed Yusuf, and other top government officials.
