Russian Wheat Shipment Strengthens Economic Ties in Central Africa

227

At the Douala Autonomous Port in Cameroon, crane operators have been actively unloading 25,000 tonnes of wheat destined for local mills to produce wheat flour. The flour will then be shipped to the Central African Republic (CAR).

This shipment, promised by Russia’s president during the 2nd Russia-Africa summit in July, signifies a win-win partnership, as emphasized by Jean Marie Tchuissang, the Russian honorary consul in Douala. Tchuissang noted that many African states appreciate Russia’s approach and consider the partnership beneficial for all parties involved.

The wheat is processed in Cameroon due to the CAR’s limited capabilities. Additionally, Vladimir Putin pledged to send around 200,000 tonnes of wheat for free to Burkina Faso, Zimbabwe, Mali, Somalia, RCA, and Eritrea.
